Afer shtepise se pare ne New York, kishim shtepine e Zotit, \u201cOur Lady\u201d, ate vend qe une e ndjej dhe e respektoj, vend qe eshte qetesues per te gjithe ata qe shkojne. Ne ditet e sherbimit fetar ka pjesemarrje nga te gjithe nacionalitetet, si te moshuar, te rinj, te varfer e te pasur, qe te gjithe ndjehen vellezer ne besim. Ne nje besim qe pervec respekit dhe tolerancave nuk njeh ane negative ne shoqerine ku jetojme. Po aty ishte dhe shkolla ne te cilin edukohen femijet.<\/p>\n

Kur bleme shtepine me pas, u ndodh afer nje kishe ne te cilen sot jami antare te rregullt te saj. Theksoj se emri \u2018Kishe\u2019 ne mendjet e njerezve tane ka kuptim krejtesisht te ndryshem. Ne jo vetem qe s\u2019duam t\u2019ja dine per te, por shpesh kemi frike nga kjo fjale. Ne fakt kishat pa dallim pavaresisht ne se jane katolike, ortodokse, luteriane apo anglikane, jane vend takimi, vend shoqeror ku pas lutjeve, merr kafe, kek, pije freskuese ( jo alkolike ), ha gjelle e embelsira te gatuara nga familje te ndryshme, eshte vend ku organizohen aktivitete nga me te ndryshmet. Te gjitha keto kane karakter shoqeror, aty takohesh dhe bisedon me njerezit qe frekuentojne kishen duke zgjedhur temat qe desheron, kohe zgjatja eshte si te duash.<\/p>\n

Per shume shqiptare ne New York, mungojne ambjentet sociale, mungon shoqeria, ndihet vetmia, nuk i shohin, nuk i dine ku dhe si behet jeta sociale ne Amerike. Te moshuarit qe vijne tek femijet shpesh e ndjejne veten te izoluar dhe duan te largohen shpejt.
\nTe jesh pa besim, eshte e keqia e vetes, mund te kesh me shume strese, nuk e di ku te mbeshtetesh per te krijuar ose rringjallur shpresat ne se nuk i ke, ndihesh dhe i rene shpirterisht.<\/p>\n

Une besoj te Zoti, besoj ne Krisht, shkoj ne shtepine e tij ne Kishe, ndjehem optimiste, bej lutje si per vete dhe per te tjeret. Ambjenti ne kishat amerikane eshte shume i mire, Lavdi Zotit. Po megjithate mungon shoqeria ne gjuhen tone. Ne gjuhe te huaj sado e pershtatur te jesh, nuk arrin ta ndjesh me gjithe shpirt liturgjine.<\/p>\n

Planifikova qe pas takimit me Shoqaten e Shkrimtareve Shqiptaro -Amerikane, ne Bronx, qe patem ne 2 Prill, diten e diel te shkonim ne Kishen \u201cZoja e Shkodres\u201d.
\nE Diela u gdhi nje mengjez i bukur, pak I ftohte qe mbante tisin e hershem pranveror. Ne na gjeti midis qindra shqiptareve, te veshur ne menyre festive e serioze, plot me te rinj, femije, prinder e gjysher, me nje fjale ishte nje pjesemarrje e mire e tere brezave.<\/p>\n

Pata lexuar dhe degjuar shume, per Qendren e Madhe Kulturore mbare shqiptare ne Amerike, por ta njohesh nga afer eshte dicka tjeter.
\nEshte nje kishe madheshtore ne kompleks. Lartesia e kodres, ekspozicioni I saj i ndricuar plot dielll e drite, sheshi i parkimit per qindra makina, lulishtet perreth, statuja e Shenjtores me te re shqiptare, Nene Terezes, ajo e Shen Marise, Shen Nikolles dhe mbi te gjitha mijra njerez ( per cdo te Diele jane rreth 2-3 mije vete ).<\/p>\n

Ne te gjitha kishat e vendeve perendimore, si dhe ne New York e Athine ku kemi jetuar, shkojne me shume te moshuar, kurse ketu mbizoteron mosha e re dhe femijet bardhosha te races sone. Aty takuam Z. Tome Mrijaj, qe na priti, na shoqeroi, na tregoi shume me teper per historikun dhe aktivitetin e Kishes se sa mund te gjesh duke lexuar librat e tij te shumta qe na ka dhuruar.<\/p>\n

Nuk ishte vetem shtepia e Zotit, sepse atje gjetem sallonin e Nene Terezes, vecas ate te At Gjergj Fishtes, Monsinjor Dr. Zef Oroshit, te baballareve te Kombit tone tek te cilet duhet te kthejme vemendjen per Bashkim e Vllazerim. Po ashtu ne sallen e poshtme nuk mungonte as seksioni ku kishin zene vend dekorimi, ekspozimi i veshjeve kombetare nepermjet koleksionit te kukllave, sipas shume zonave te Shqiperise. Ka akoma vend per te shtuar me ide te reja, sic tha dhe i nderuari, Dom Pjetri. Dicka atje ishte dhurate dhe nga kalabrezet, vellezerit tane te hershem arbereshe, qe kane kontribuar ne kishen tone.<\/p>\n

Duke ndjekur meshen shqip. isha e mallengyer, ishte hera e pare qe ndiqja nje meshe vetem ne gjuhen time, aftesite e Dom Pjetrit si ciceron me bene, te kthehem shume vite pas ne Qeparone tim kur shkoja ne kishen e Shen Marise, me prindet dhe gjyshen.<\/p>\n

Sodisja fytyrat me rradhe dhe femijet bukurosha, dhe sillja prane njerezit e kombit tim te ardhur nga gjithe skajet, me veshjet e tyre karakteristike dhe zakonet e bukura apo ritet fetare te braktisura.
\nAta e kane gjetur nje vend te shenjte per t\u2019i ngjitur copezat e shkeputura nga vitet, per t\u2019i ngjitur serish nen catine e perbashket,
\nqe mban emrin \u201cZoja e Shkodres.\u201d<\/p>\n

E kisha ndjekur historine e \u201cZojes se Shkodres\u201d si u gjet ne Kalabri, ne kohen e sulmeve otomane. E bekuara, erdhi gjer ketu, te ngrohe dhe te ndricoje rruget dhe shpresat e besimtareve tane!<\/p>\n

Me mbarimin e meshes, me buzeqeshje sic ka shpirtin, me dashamiresi, qe i buron nga zemra, me rrezatim drite qe e merr nga vete nena e Krishtit, nena e Keshillit te Mire, Zoja e Shkodres, ju perkushtua vizites sone, Dom Pjeter Popaj.<\/p>\n

Inteligjenca e Hiresise se Tij, dallohej ne humorin, aftesine per te komunikuar, bujarine. Puna e tij eshte veper e madhe ne rrugen e Nolit dhe te Zef Oroshit, dy themeluesit e Kishes Ortodokse dhe Katolike shqiptare ne Amerike. Vepra e Dom Pjetrit i perkushtohet rruajtjes se tradites, kultures dhe vlerave te cmuara kombetare.<\/p>\n

Edukimi fetar eshte udha per paqen, rruga me e mire per afrimin e brezave. Dinjiteti i personit percaktohet nga e drejta ne lirine fetare. Atje ku ka liri fetare ka kulture politike dhe juridike. Kete edukim njeriu e merr ne shkolle dhe shkolle me te mire se kisha nuk ka, sidomos kur flasin gjuhen tende, kur ka zevendes te Zotit, si Noli, At Liolini, Zef Oroshi e Dom Pjeter Popaj.<\/p>\n

Dom Pjetri nuk ishte i vetem. Ate e rrethonin familje te shumta, te vellezerve, fisit, krahines, Shqiperise dhe vellezerve te tjere ne besim. Por te vecante ishin Z. Tom Mrijaj, Mark Gecaj, Mark Shkreli, vellezerit dhe bashkeshortet e tyre te familjes se nderuar te Dom Pjetrit, K. Kapinova, e shume te tjere qe nuk mundem ti fiksojme ne nje takim. Dom Pjetri e informova per vellezerit ne \u2018\u2019Pene \u2019\u2019 Antaret e Shoqates dhe vete Shoqaten e Shkrimtareve Shqiptaro-Amerikane.<\/p>\n

Ne Kishen \u201cZoja e Shkodres,\u2019 krahas shkolles do ndertohet Biblioteka, prandaj jane te lutur te gjithe antaret e Shoqates sone per te derguar kopje te botimeve te tyre te vjetra e te reja, ne forme dhurate ne adresen : 361 W. Hartdale Ave
\nHartsdale, New York 10530<\/p>\n

Per te mesuar akoma, atje pervec sherbimeve fetare ka nje aktivitet te gjere kulturor dhe shoqeror qe zhvillohen nga shoqata te ndryshme, nga Qendra Nene Tereza etj, tek \u201cZoja e Shkodres.\u201d Shkoni, merrni, abonohuni ne revistem me vlera \u201cJeta Katolike,\u201d te cilen e krijoi me 1966 themeluesi i Kishes se pare katolike shqiptare ne Amerike, Monsinjor Dr. Zef Oroshi. Aktivitetet dhe ndihmat e vete kesaj Qendre edukimi, per mbare Shqiperine, Kosoven dhe Malin e Zi, jane te shumta ne numur e ne vlera, te cilat shume pak jane reflektuar ne gazeten Illiria qe e lexojme te gjithe.<\/p>\n

Jane ndihmat e dukeshme te ketij komuniteti qe kontribuan per ndertimin e katedrales \u201c Nena Tereze\u201d ne Prishtine.
\nPo ashtu ndihmesa te shumta jane dhene ne hapje kishash ne Shqiperi e Mal te Zi. Eshte pozitive qe ish famulltari i pare i kishes \u201cZoja e Shkodres\u201d Imzot Rrok Mirdita, vazhdon te kontriboje gjeresisht ne ndertime kishash, shkollash, klinika dhe Universitetin e Pare Katolik ne Tirane.<\/p>\n

Mendoja se do ta shuaja etjen per ta pare \u201cZojen e Shkodres,\u201d por ndodhi e kunderta. Mu shtua me tej etja shpirterore. Dua te di me shume per shqiptaret e Malesise nga te dy anet e kufirit, per katoliket e Kosoves, per kristianet ne pergjithesi, qe si te paret e mi himarjote, me arme i rezistuan dhe mbrojten krahinen e tyre, lirine. Ata nuk e tradhetuan besimin, nuk u bene rrober dhe sherbetore te politikes se Sulltaneve.<\/p>\n

Do te shkoj prape per te mesuar me shume per Viganin e Shqiperise Monsinjor DR. Zef Oroshin, Nene Terezen, Gjergj Fishten, Dom Pjeter Popaj, burrat e penes si Shkrelajt, Kapinova, Vukel, Camaj, Cota, Paloka, Perlleshi, Turmalaj, Sajlani, Smajlaj, Stalaj, Pervizi, Mirakaj, Buzhala, Imzot Rrok Mirdita. Te njoh gjestin dhe bujarine e qindra familjeve fisnike si Gecaj, Mrijaj, Gjokaj, e shume tjera. Te njihem ne keta njerez qe bejne donatione te medha tek Zoja e Shkodres, te cilat shkojne per aktivitete, ndihma, ndertime shoqerore dhe per kulture, si ketu dhe ne trojet shqiptare.<\/p>\n

Aty pashe me te vertete nje copez nga malesoret katolike te Shkodres, Pukes, te Mirdites per te cilet kam punuar si mesimdhenese, ne vitet e rinise sime. Po ashtu pashe dhe imagjinova, gjithe katoliket e Kelmendit, te Thethit e te Breg Lumit ne Dukagjinin e thepisur, ku isha mahnitur me bukurite e bjeshkeve te larta, natyren e virgjer te malesive tona kur mora pjese ne brigadat kulturale, si gjimnaziste.<\/p>\n

Po! Eshte nje rikthim ne nje kohe te re, ne Ameriken Shqiptare, te lire per te gezuar te drejat fetare qe jane mohuar me dekada ne vendin ku lindem dhe u rritem. U pershendetem me respekt me te gjithe, me deshiren per t\u2019i pare perseri ne Pashken e sivjetme, njerezit qe i dedikohen me shpirt kesaj Qendre te madhe fetare, kombetare, kulturore, shoqerore.<\/p>\n
