Multi-award winning duo, known as \u201cThe Zenelaj Sisters\u201d of Colored Films, actress, producer Greta and writer, director, producer Vilma combine suspense with ingenious storytelling to create \u201cEagle\u201d (Alb. Shqipe), a feature film expected to be released this year.<\/p>\n

Eagle, “Shqipe” a political thriller\/suspense, starts with the riot that ended communism in Albania in April 1991. The protagonist, Helena, (played by Greta Zenelaj) is a single mother and a high school teacher of literature.<\/p>\n

The film opens with Helena witnessing the rioting and killing of one of her students as the regime collapses. Soon after, she escapes to the US, entering illegally with her 7 year old daughter, Lola. She is subsequently recruited by the CIA as a spy in the Muslim\/Albanian community in order to find and arrest a former communist ruler wanted
\nby US and Albanian authorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cVilma and I co-wrote the story, but Vilma wrote the script. Vilma is also
\nthe director and producer of Eagle movie (Shqipe),\u201d said actress and producer Greta Zenelaj.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a writer, director & producer it is a juggling act and very challenging, but it fits perfectly with my personality. I like challenges because they help you grow, gain experience, and gain perfect problem-solving skills, which I believe is a big part of filmmaking,\u201d said Vilma Zenelaj.<\/p>\n

Meet the Cast<\/strong><\/p>\n

The stellar ensemble cast includes the heroine played by the talented Greta Zenelaj, whose indie film career has exploded as a brilliant actress, witty writer and great producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying the character of an Albanian woman, \u2018Helena\u2019, has been my favorite role thus far since I love to act in my native tongue,\u201d said actress Greta Zenelaj.<\/p>\n

The antagonist is played by the acting icon Ndri\u00e7im Xhepa, the most award-winning actor in Albania, who is the dear face that the Albanian public grew up, watching his superb portrayal of numerous roles in both theatre and film. Another household name in Albanian cinematography is the unforgettable Zyliha Miloti, a powerhouse comedian, who has defined the artistic and cultural entertainment in Albania.<\/p>\n

Also starring in Eagle in support-acting roles are: Agron Dizdai, Graciela Kroni, Seljon Lami, Jozefina Delia, Astrit Fami and Luis Bilali.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cast is not finalized yet until filming in Michigan begins. The American actors are yet to be announced,\u201d said director and producer Vilma Zenelaj. \u201cIt was such a pleasure and honor working with the talented Ndri\u00e7im Xhepa and the great Zyliha Miloti in Shkod\u00ebr. In Albania, since the film industry is not as predominant as TV, actors especially are naturals. I was very impressed at how passionate and good amateur actors were. I only gave a couple of direction and most of them nailed the part. It was amazing to work with talent like that. I don’t find that talent in US, because I feel in Albania they are very hungry to show their talent in film,\u201d added Vilma.<\/p>\n

The Main Characters<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lead role of \u201cHelena\u201d will be played by Greta Zenelaj:<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj was born in Tirana, Albania. Greta\u2019s interest in the arts began at an early age, performing in festivals and theatrical productions as a young child. Greta studied at Tirana University, majoring in journalism. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her sister Vilma with the goal to pursue her acting career to the fullest.<\/p>\n

After starring in several short films and student films, Greta decided to expand her work to the production side of the industry. She and her sister founded Colored Films, the first Albanian production company in Hollywood, in 2008.<\/p>\n

In 2011 Greta won the Best Actress Award in the New York International Independent Film Festival for her role in the thriller titled \u201cIn The Woods\u201d. Greta executive produced and co-wrote \u201cIn The Woods\u201d which was accepted in six major film festivals and named the winner of a Silver Ace Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival and Best Feature at the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival. Ndri\u00e7im Xhepa is an award-winning Albanian Actor. After completion of his acting studies at the Academy of Arts in Albania, in 1979 he joined the National Theatre of Albania where he left a lasting legacy of unforgettable performances in film, theatre and television.<\/p>\n

His stellar acting career of over 30 years in numerous roles landed him the deserved \u201cThe Best Actor Award\u201d in the following movies and plays: “Duaje emrin t\u00ebnd” (1985), “Hije q\u00eb mbeten pas” 1987, “Flutura n\u00eb kabin\u00ebn time” (1989), \u201cActor of the Year\u201d Award in film and theatre (1990), “Femando Krafi m\u00eb ka shkruar k\u00ebt\u00eb let\u00ebr” (1995), “Dasma e Sakos” (2000), “Kapitulli i dyt\u00eb” (2004 & 2005), “I dashur armik” (2006), and “P\u00ebr nj\u00eb fjal\u00eb goje” (2007) (Agron Sejamini Interview, 06.18.2009). His first movie appearance was in \u201cK\u00ebshilltar\u00ebt\u201d, (Counselors), produced in 1979 and directed by Xhezair Dafa (Petrika Grosi Interview, 06.20.2009).
\nThe role of \u201cHelena\u2019s Parents\u201d will be played by Zyliha Miloti and Agron Dizdari:<\/p>\n

Zyliha Miloti is from the historical city of Shkodra, in Albania. Her early entertainment career began as part of the prominent theatre cast with the famous Migjeni Theatre of Shkodra. Her first acting role was at age 14 at \u201cTep\u00ebr Sekret\u201d (Top Secret), a play directed by Ndoc Sheldija, produced at Jordan Misja High School. Her acting career has spanned over 40 years, appearing in hundreds of theatre shows, movies and TV shows (Besi Bektashi Interview, 05.04.2009). She has traveled the world touring with “Estrada e Shkodres” (Variety Show of Shkod\u00ebr) humorist troup, performing for the Albanian community in London, Michigan, Canada, etc. Zyliha Miloti was honored with the \u201cWomen of the year of 2000-2001\u201d award by the International Biographical Center, Cambridge, England. She also was awarded \u201cMerited Artist of Albania\u201d. In 2010 she was awarded the \u201cGreat Master\u201d price, presented to her by the Albanian President Bamir Topi.<\/p>\n

Agron Dizdari: Another household name for the Albanian cinematography is the talented Agron Dizdari. In a successful film career that has extended over 40 years, Agron has starred in film and television productions, made famous for his appearances in the drama plays with the \u201cMigjeni Theatre\u201d in Shkodra, Albania. He enjoys fishing as a hobby. He starred in \u201cOperacioni Zjarri\u201d \/ (Operation Fire \u2013 1973), \u201cNj\u00eb nat\u00eb pa drit\u00eb\u201d (A night without light \u2013 1981), and \u201cWomen Without Wings\u201d in 2002. He has toured the country with the famous humorist troup, “Estrada e Shkodr\u00ebs”.<\/p>\n

The role of \u201cLola\u201d, Helena\u2019s daughter, will be played by Graciela Kroni:<\/p>\n

Graciela Kroni was born in Greece and moved to Albania 8 months ago. Her family always spoke Albanian to her so she was bi-lingual. \u201cWhen we met her for the first time she had this innocence about her, fragile and very likeable. Then when we tried to do the lines she was a natural. Very comfortable with the camera and very easy going with other people that she doesn’t know. Me and her clicked right away. She is adorable.<\/p>\n

The role of \u201cEdmond\u201d will be played by Seljon Lami:<\/p>\n

Seljon Lami is born and raised in Shkodra, Albania. His mother, a pianist, encouraged music and arts in the family. \u201cAs a young boy I loved listening to my mother play on the piano. I would play and sing along, pretending to be a famous actor from TV or a singer,\u201d he says for Prishtina Press. His fascination with music and arts he exhibited at a very young age during school plays, recitals and cultural performances. However acting was his number one passion.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy teachers have encouraged me and always involved me in theatre plays at my school. They have been very impressed with my acting and performances,\u201d says Seljon.<\/p>\n

Seljon is excited to be in the cast of \u201cEagle\u201d \/ \u201cShqipe\u201d. He enjoyed working with the Zenelaj sisters during the shooting of the movie in Shkodra, \u201cIt was such an unforgettable experience working with Vilma and Greta. Playing the role of \u201cEdmond\u201d in the movie Eagle\/Shqipe, although a small part, is very important and essential in understanding the time period in Albania told in the movie, where many men and women sacrificed their lives for freedom,\u201d said actor Seljon Lami.<\/p>\n

When we met with her she looked very young, and we explained to her what we are looking for and in a matter of minutes she transformed herself into a different person. She put her hair down, had an attitude as a teacher and delivered the lines perfectly. We liked her right away. It was very easy to work with Jozefina. Even that it was a short shoot we bonded as friends on the screen and out the screen,\u201d said producer Greta Zenelaj.<\/p>\n

The role of \u201cTeacher\u201d will be played by Astrit Fami:<\/p>\n

\u201cAstrit Fani was referred by Agron Dizdari, who plays Helena’s father in the Eagle movie. They are both part of \u201cTeatri i Migjenit\u201d. Astrit has been involved with the troup for over 25 years. He is very charismatic, punctual and eager to try new things. We are pleased to have him in our movie,\u201d said Greta Zenelaj.<\/p>\n

As a successful, actress, producer and founder of a film company, do the awards mean anything to Colored Films?<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: The awards mean a lot of recognition for us and for everybody that worked and helped in making of these films. It is appreciation for everyone\u2019s hard work and dedication, who were involved in our projects.<\/p>\n

What do u love the most about what you do?<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: I like the creative side of the film making. But there are a lot of things involved. The creative side starts with a good script, story telling and interesting characters. And this particular script that I worked on for the movie \u201cEagle\u201d (Shqipe) is based in true events and that’s why it is so rich.<\/p>\n

I like spending time on creating my characters. Reading through the script and page by page I learn something new about the character I play and I try to make it real. Then working on wardrobe and make up with talented people it makes the process of creating the character more fun.<\/p>\n

Another thing that I like is working with other actors. And I have been privileged to work with some very talented actors.<\/p>\n

What was it like being both a producer and actor for the movie \u201cShqipe?\u201d<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: This is a project close to my heart. So I was very excited to do the producer part and express my opinion and make decisions at the same time. I tried to meet everybody that worked on our project and tried to work as a team. Our motto is when we are shooting we are like a family so we try to take care of everybody. This way we all do the best we can and it shows. I particularly loved shooting the movie \u201cEagle\u201d in Albania. Everyone worked really hard and was extremely supportive. It was an honor to work with the talented Ndri\u00e7im Xhepa and Zyliha Miloti.<\/p>\n

Which has been your favorite character that u have performed in your acting career and why?<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: It is hard to have a favorite because I like to get fully invested in my
\ncharacters and you have to fall in love with them to do a good job. But right now I am working on the character of Helena, the lead for \u201cShqipe\u201d\/\u201dEagle\u201d movie so I guess she
\nis my favorite for now. Another reason that I like Helena is that she is an Albanian woman and I love to act in my native tongue.<\/p>\n

What are your strong points as an actress?<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: I am a very easy going person and I like to please people so I go the extra mile. I also like to play versatile characters from dramatic, to funny and witty. My passion and determination has definitely paid off in creating many memorable experiences in my acting career.<\/p>\n

What kind of roles do you prefer to play?<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: I think dramatic roles come easy for me, but I love comedy as well.<\/p>\n

Greta, as a celebrity, how do you handle popularity?<\/p>\n

Greta Zenelaj: Thank you, I am flattered. I don\u2019t consider my self a celebrity. I try to stay humble. I am still enjoying life as being Greta, whether that means staying busy as an actress, writer, producer or entrepreneur, I like to give 100% in what I do, and still find appreciation for the little things in life.<\/p>\n
